Your data in Pointed
Pointed is an independent, open-source app maintained by Jason (jcb79107). It is not affiliated with Linear. This page describes the hosted app; self-hosted instances have their own operators.
What we store
Your Linear user and workspace IDs, name, email and avatar URL; encrypted connection credentials; team defaults; session participants, imported ticket titles and descriptions, related metadata, votes, estimates, and session activity. We store this information to run and recover your sessions.
Permissions and visibility
Linear sign-in starts with read access. Facilitators enable write access to save estimates. Anyone with an invitation link can see the session title, team name, status, and ticket count. A room link alone does not grant access to tickets or voting: participants must sign in and have access to the Linear team. Votes stay hidden from other participants until the round is revealed. The service stores votes to operate the session.
Service providers
Vercel hosts the app and request logs. Neon stores application data. Linear supplies issues and receives confirmed estimates. When configured, Pusher delivers room-change and presence notifications; those notifications do not include vote values. Optional Slack connections send invitations only when you request them. Embedded designs and external links can contact their respective providers.
Error reporting and feedback
Sentry receives technical error reports containing the app version, code locations, and a generalized page category. We filter out raw error messages, request bodies, headers, query strings, room codes, ticket content, votes, and account details. Automatic error reports do not attach screenshots or replays.
If you send feedback, Sentry receives your message, an optional reply email, any screenshot you attach, and a replay only if you explicitly start recording and choose to attach it. Replay is off by default. After you start it, up to the last minute is buffered locally; text is masked, media is blocked, and forms and sensitive ticket content are excluded. You can send feedback without a replay. Canceling or discarding stops recording without uploading it. Submitting ends recording; another recording requires a new choice. Review screenshots before attaching them, and leave out credentials. Feedback is available to the maintainer, not posted publicly. Error and feedback records are subject to Sentry’s retention settings and are separate from your Pointed account; use the support page to request removal.
Cookies and device storage
An HTTP-only cookie keeps you signed in for up to 14 days. Temporary cookies protect sign-in. Your appearance preference is stored on your device. Pointed does not include advertising trackers or sell your information.
Retention and deletion
Session history is retained until its owner deletes the session or their account. There is currently no automatic age-based deletion of session history. In Settings → Account data, you can delete your account, stored connections, votes, and sessions you created. This also removes those sessions for other participants. Sessions owned by others and shared team defaults remain; audit entries in other sessions lose their link to your account.
Deleting Pointed data does not reverse estimates already saved in Linear. Remove Pointed from your Linear integrations to revoke its provider authorization. Disconnect optional Slack in Settings. Provider logs and backups can remain until their retention periods expire; Pointed’s delete action does not immediately erase provider backups.
Questions or problems
See Help and support. Do not post ticket contents, tokens, email addresses, or private workspace details in public GitHub issues. Report security or privacy vulnerabilities through our private security reporting channel.
